Weleda Haemorrhoidal Ointment helps relieve the discomfort of external haemorrhoids (enlarged varicose veins in the mucous membrane inside or just outside the rectum – also called piles).
Haemorrhoids produce varying degrees of pain, feelings of pressure, itching, irritation and a palpable mass. In women, the single most common cause is pregnancy.
Because of its astringent qualities, this ointment is also an excellent cream for itchy bites, etc.

Rationale
Aesculus (Horse chestnut): venous tonic helps tone the circulation system in venous congestion by improving the blood flow in varicose veins and haemorrhoids. Hamamelis (Witch Hazel) – its chemical make-up tones blood vessels, improving haemorrhoids and varicose veins. Borago (Borage) helps relieve venous congestion. Calendula (Marigold) improves varicose veins and haemorrhoids. Equisetum (Horsetail) is astringent and anti-haemorrhagic (due to Silica content). Essential oil of Rosemary has a stimulating and toning effect on blood circulation.
